Job Training, Housing Programs, and Education
New Educational and Community Resources
A network of housing opportunities, social service support, job training, and education resources will connect migrants from all walks of life, especially those forced to flee from their home country due to necessity.
Expanded housing and social service solutions will provide new opportunities for longtime Cincinnatians, promote Cincinnati as the place to live for those moving for opportunity, and ensure that those looking for a supportive community after fleeing climatic impacts will be cared for.

Host Family Program
About the Host Family Program
For residents needing support beyond cost-effective housing, we have designed a Host Family Program to support migrants forced to flee due to climate disasters. Hosts support climate migrants by providing housing, along with social, emotional, and integration support. Migrants are connected with necessary integrative and supportive services offered by the Community Campus. The Host Family program enables migrants to live self-sustaining, independent lives after phasing out of the program.
ADUs in Cincinnati
The City recently passed an ordinance that allows a singular internal or external ADU on all single-family zoned lots. Host Families can work with the local government and CDCs to create ADUs as a part of our host family program, or choose to fully self-fund their ADU.

Social Housing Program
What is Social Housing?
Social housing allows municipalities to develop market-rate and affordable housing without applying for government subsidies.
-
Favorable interest rates and public land attract developers.
-
Rental income pays off the building's loan and maintenance.
-
Additional funds are used to develop new social housing projects.

How Does It Work?
Breakdown of AMI
Resident Make-Up
Social housing will be characterized as dense mixed-income complexes. The model ensures that residents pay no more than 30% of their income on rent. This housing style facilitates the social mixing of residents of different incomes.

We suggest that social housing be developed on vacant sites with convenient access to public transportation, and nearby amenities and necessities.

Community Campus
The Cincinnati Community Campus was created with the purpose of connecting residents to resources that promote a self-sustaining and engaged community, lifelong learning, and supportive services for new and current Cincinnati residents. Our mission is to uplift the community and provide a central hub of activity and creativity that is accessible, comfortable, and proactive.
The Cincinnati Community Campus will be located Downtown in the heart of Cincinnati and will be funded through a mix of non-profit and governmental providers. By providing these resources and partnering with our community we can fill in educational, recreational, and career gaps and uplift the community to improve their overall quality of life.

The Community Campus will be split into three separate buildings that all offer different kinds of services. These services will be aimed at providing job training, recreation and fitness space, skills classes, and resident support. Learn more about the Community Campus below.
-
The career center is the hub for job training and includes a build lab, tech center, and career-specific classrooms.
-
The learning and resource center is designed for those seeking financial counseling, homeownership information, and small group support classes.
-
The rec center includes a large gymnasium that hosts club sports, a yoga studio, and multiple small activity and equipment rooms.

Catalog of Community Campus Offerings
Our Community Campus network will offer a variety of new services, as well as work to connect residents with existing services. We aim to partner with these organizations to create a one-stop shop for community resources. Partners will include regional municipal governments and their services, as well as existing community non-profits. Existing programs are already hard at work filling existing community gaps in career, learning and resources, and recreational services.

Aside from the primary Community Campus located Downtown, there will be an array of satellite campuses throughout our climate haven locations.
Destination Cincinnati will connect residents to Community Campus locations, and encourage residents to utilize additional existing municipally-provided services across the city.
Currently, Destination Cincinnati focuses on the four neighborhoods of Downtown, Corryville, Springdale, and North Fairmount, however, this network can easily be expanded into other neighborhoods and educational spaces such as libraries and CRCs as the program grows.
