New Housing Typologies & Development Sites

New Climate Haven Housing Typologies

We have created six new housing typologies that will be implemented throughout our climate haven neighborhoods. These typologies were intended to be innovative, and cost-effective, and introduce styles of housing not currently seen in Cincinnati.

As people relocate housing will become the driving factor for where people choose to move. In Cincinnati, we already have a lack of affordable and flexible housing options and these new typologies will allow us to expand our current way of thinking about housing and provide for people of many diverse backgrounds and needs.

To explore these new typologies and to see which housing program each typology utilizes hover over the images below.

Utilizing our Typologies as a Kit-of-Parts

What is a Kit-of-Parts

  • A kit-of-parts is comprised of interchangeable components that are used to create a multitude of unique configurations.

How will These Typologies Work Together?

  • In this case, our typologies will be interchangeable and will work conjunctionally with one another.

  • For example in one of the new Climate Havens we repurpose the interior of a mall and turn the outside parking lot into a tiny home village

Where will these New Housing Types be Located?

Areas Selected as Climate Havens

  • Our first priority neighborhoods that were selected to be Cincinnati's first Climate Haven neighborhoods will be:

    • Corryville, Cincinnati, Ohio

    • Downtown, Cincinnati, Ohio

    • North Fairmount, Cincinnati, Ohio

    • Springdale, Ohio

Why were These Locations Chosen

  • These specific neighborhoods were selected to be our first priority neighborhood due to their close proximity to job opportunities, space to accommodate all typologies as a kit-of-parts, nearby resources, and entertainment options, and adequate access to transportation systems and corridors

Second and Third Priority Neighborhoods

Destination Cincinnati currently focuses on only four neighborhoods based on initial implementation but has the capacity to be expanded.

Eventually, we would like every neighborhood to become a climate haven, however, we have identified second and third-priority neighborhoods that we believe should be focused on first.

We chose these specific neighborhoods based on their social vulnerability index and how much they would be able to serve the system of resources we have already created and identified in phase one of Destination Cincinnati.
